“Their job is not to sell good music, their job is to sell music.”- Nikki Jean
I’ve been sitting on this video and just watching it for a while, before it occurred to me that I didn’t post it [-_-] but it’s really left a profound impact on me. As the hands of time wave forward and artists are able to connect with their fans on a more personal level, we become more and more conscious of the machinations of the structure that is the music industry, and how their agenda (that is, their goal, which is money) can stifle or completely kill the journey of an artist, sometimes before they even get a chance to showcase their ability. Nikki Jean’s situation is apparently like that, and it’s sad to see that this is the case. As we become more and more aware of what is holding back the release of our favorite albums, we will soon reach the point where we as a fanbase and a people can cut through the bullshit and say “enough.”
Wake up.
